Hilton Worldwide has entered into a strategic agreement with BT Openzone to provide a fully-managed suite of Wi-Fi and Internet services across hotels in the U.K. and Ireland.

The Wi-Fi Alliance and Wireless Broadband Alliance (WBA) have announced plans to collaborate in order to harmonize their programs related to Wi-Fi hotspot ease of use and roaming. WBA's inter-operator Wi-Fi roaming efforts and Wi-Fi Alliance's planned certification program for Wi-Fi equipment will be developed with close coordination between the two groups to help ensure the best user experience.

The Wireless Broadband Alliance ("WBA"), a pioneer in global Wireless Broadband roaming for public Wi-Fi networks, has announced that its membership numbers are swelling as 10 more influential organisations join the Alliance.
At the 18th WBA Roundtable Conference & WBA Partners' Day in Auckland 2010, new technology members joining the alliance will include global giants such as Intel and Google; leading Wi-Fi network vendors Aruba Networks, Meru Networks and Ruckus Wireless; and the specialist roaming solution providers Accuris Networks and Aicent Inc.
London Underground and BT trial Wi-Fi at Charing Cross Tube station

BT today announced a new free mobile application that will automatically connect customers to its network of 1.6 million Wi-Fi hotspots, making it even easier for them to access the internet when they are on the move. To celebrate the launch, BT is giving 50p to BBC Children in Need for each free BT FON application downloaded, until they reach a target of £10,000*.

The rise in 'glamping' or 'glamorous camping' has driven an explosion in Wi-Fi usage at UK holiday and leisure parks, including Camping and Caravanning Club sites. Usage rose 350 per cent in the first two weeks of the school summer holidays according to figures released today by BT Openzone.
