Before you start
Before you can connect to the internet by wireless, you need a wireless-enabled device - this may be a laptop or hand-held device. You'll also need to check your device's wireless network settings.
Wireless-enabled devices
If your device is a laptop, it needs to be running Windows XP, Mac OS 10.4.1 or Linux 2.2 or above. If your laptop isn't wireless-enabled, you need an IEEE 802.11g wireless card or adapter. You can buy one at www.shop.bt.com or your local computer store.
If your device is a personal digital assistant (PDA), it needs to be running Microsoft Pocket PC 2002 or above, or Palm OS 4.0 or above.
Other wireless-enabled devices include most mobile phones and games and entertainment devices such as the iPod touch, PlayStation Portable and Nintendo DS.
Please check that:
- your wireless device's Service Set Identifier (SSID) is set to – or that you've selected – 'BTOpenzone' (case sensitive, no spaces)
- your network type is set to 'any' or 'infrastructure'
- your wireless network key/data encryption is disabled and not set to WEP
- if you're going to access a company network, you've disabled Internet Explorer proxy settings
If you need some help, please go to how to connect by Wi-Fi - when logging in to BT Openzone, you've typed your username and password correctly - remember no capital letters and please check spelling (if you've copied and pasted your username or password, make sure there's no space after it)
