A hotspot is an access point in a public location where you can connect to the internet at broadband speed using a Wi-Fi-enabled laptop or handheld device.
Wi-Fi (wireless fidelity) hotspots broadcast a standard wireless frequency (up to 100 metres) that connects your equipment to the location’s internet connection. It’s that simple!
Our hotspots are identifiable by the distinctive BT Openzone sign, or by starting your device and viewing available wireless networks. BT Openzone outdoor coverage has also been extended across 12 UK city centres, so even being near a lamp post or BT payphone can give you a good signal.
You’ll find BT Openzone hotspots in a range of places: everything from airport lounges and terminals, bars and pubs, BT payphones, cafes/coffee shops, clubs, colleges, conference centres and exhibition venues, health clubs, hotels, law courts, libraries, museums, motorway service stations, railway stations, restaurants, shopping areas/stores, sports stadia, town halls, universities … and more.
Wi-Fi from BT Openzone is brought to you by many recognisable partners, including BAA airports, Caffè Nero, Hilton Hotels, Thistle Hotels and Welcome Break.
As well as BT Openzone-managed hotspots in the UK and Ireland, BT Openzone customers* can log in at hotspots managed by The Cloud and KeConnect. Your pricing plan may also give you BT Openzone access via the T-Mobile UK Wi-Fi network.
